Men's Ice Hockey was the biggest news story ahead of their weekend play in the Frozen Four
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - In the past two weeks, most of the media coverage involving Boston College athletics included the men's ice hockey team as they headed to Tampa, Fla. for what would be the team's 25th appearance in the Frozen Four, an NCAA record to date.
Ahead of their first ever matchup against Quinnipiac, the Eagles were featured in the Boston Globe on what it's like to be back in the final four round of the college hockey tournament. Although the two teams are relatively close in distance, they are quite unfamiliar with each other writes Kevin Paul Dupont. Michael Whitmer looks at the play of senior captain Teddy Doherty, who's play helped the Eagles advance to the Frozen Four.Â
John Connolly of the Boston Herald writes that the familiar grounds of the Frozen Four doesn't get old for the Eagles while Hobey Baker Hat Trick Finalist Thatcher Demko is honored to be in contention for the award to honor college hockey's top player. Freshman J.D. Dudek spoke earlier of his first year at BC and Austin Cangelosi is an example of the Eagles players having a phenominal season.
Coach Jerry York is featured in the New York Times while his experience, and that of the Eagles, counts in the road to the Frozen Four.Â
In other Boston College athletics news, several BC women's hockey members represented Team USA in the World Hockey Championship. Alex Carpenter, who came through in several key moments this year, did so again at the red, white and blue to capture the gold medal.Â
Another member of the women's hockey team, Kenzie Kent, was featured in The Gavel for her play on both the ice, and the lacrosse field, where she has excelled following the conclusion of the hockey season last month.
Football's Medhi Abdesmad has been "embracing time before the NFL Draft" while former WR Anthony DiCosmo was named to the Sports Business Journal Forty Under 40?. He was featured in a "Where are they now" story on NorthJersey.com earlier this week.Â
