#BCEagles Newsstand: The Keys to Winning
October 07, 2016 | Boston College Athletics
If the Eagles expect to come out of the game with a victory, they must compete at the top of their game and containing Clemson's offense.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - This Friday night will mark the 26th meeting between the Boston College Eagles and the Clemson Tigers. This long standing matchup has produced many remarkable moments and has introduced us to a handful of talented players especially in this matchup.
For the No. 3 Tigers, Deshaun Watson is once again proving why he is one of the best in the nation. The 2015 Heisman Trophy finalist has thrown for 14 touchdowns so far this season and has drawn the attention of the Eagles.
Looking to shut down this passing game is defensive backs who will have the challenge of preventing the strong receiver core of the Tigers to gain open field for Watson to complete a pass. This will be no easy task, but while the DBs will have their hands full it will be up to the defensive line and linebackers Matt Milano, senior, and Connor Strachan, junior.
Both Milano and Strachan will be responsible for containing Watson and has been one of the main focus points for Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney, who acknowledged the two talented LBs.
With the defensive play the Eagles have shown in the past few games, they are confident that they can give the Tigers a battle. However, if Boston College expects to come out with a win Friday night, they will need to be at the top of their game and may need a few things to go their way.
The game is set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN.
