After losing the last 12 ACC games, the Eagles went down to North Carolina to snap the streak.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Football: As the Eagles boarded their plane Friday afternoon heading down to North Carolina, many questions regarding the team's health still remained.
Amid a difficult season, the Eagles were only focused on one thing, winning against NC State.
"Everybody's just focused right now on being 1-0. Right now, it's being 1-0 and beating N.C. State. That's all," said redshirt sophomore RB Jon Hilliman.
As the game kicked off, the questions were answered as Hilliman, graduate QB Patrick Towles and junior LB Connor Strachan returned to the field.
With the help of Strachan, the defense looked strong and were able to force two interceptions and a fumble against the Wolfpack.
The offense did its part as well, coming up with big plays and using a couple trick plays as well to secure the win and snap the losing streak that haunted the team for so long.
Head coach Steve Addazio spoke with the media right after the game and could not contain the excitement he had for the win.
"I'm really proud to be coaching this football team. I know it's one game but we took an important step today."
As the season continues, this win will hopefully become a breakthrough moment for not only the remainder of the year, but possibly for the future of the program as a whole.
