Devlin S-AFE Service Trip: Day 3
January 14, 2016 | Boston College Athletics, Devlin Student-Athlete Formation & Succe
Eagles continue work on their house on Baccich St., and visit Tulane's campus
For the seventh straight year, Boston College student-athletes are spending part of winter break in New Orleans on the Devlin S-AFE Trip. The week-long trip is centered on community service in partnership with the St. Bernard Project, helping families rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina 10 years ago.Â
Each day, student-athletes will reflect on the day's activities. For more information about the trip and its purpose, check out the trip overview, Day 1 recap and Day 2 recap.

Â
Today was our third day working on Baccich Street. We've almost finished dry-walling the entire house, and some of us began mudding. David, one of our site supervisors, explained the process to us and showed us how to conceal the screws we had previously put in the drywall. Moving on to another stage of reconstruction helped us to see the tremendous progress we've made in just three days.
Â
At the end of the morning, we met as a group to recap on the day's work. We reflected on our progress so far and noticed how we've grown closer as a group. This has made our work noticeably more efficient and productive.
Â
After work, we went to Tulane to work out again and got to explore campus. Some of us ran around the school while others took advantage of their great recreational facilities. Later, we went to a Tulane women's basketball game and watched them lose a close game to USF.Â
Â
Tulane's SAAC opened their doors to us for dinner, providing us with delicious pasta and salad during the game. We also got to have King Cake again, which is a New Orleans delicacy. It was cool to meet student-athletes from Tulane and compare our collegiate athletic experiences with them.
Â
We're looking forward to hopefully finishing dry-walling tomorrow and visiting the NFL YET Boys and Girls' Club!Â
