Caparro Named Sr. Assoc. AD for External Affairs

In this role, created as part of a restructured external affairs division of BC Athletics, Caparro will be responsible for the overall management and integration of external operations focusing on ticket sales, revenue generation and attendance by creating a positive gameday experience. He will be charged with ensuring that the external units, including marketing, fan engagement, communications and ticket operations, are working together to achieve the department’s goal of selling out its ticketed events.
“JM is a creative, energetic and dynamic thinker with a proven track record in marketing, ticket sales and fan engagement,” Bates said. “He will be a key member of our senior management and administrative decision-making team and will create synergies between all our external affairs functions in order to maximize our fans’ gameday experience, increase attendance, provide our teams with a significant home field advantage and provide the utmost customer service.”
“I’m looking forward to bringing my 15 years of experience in selling and marketing professional sports teams to Boston College,” Caparro said. “As a former student-athlete, I have a great appreciation for college sports programs and especially Boston College, a historic institution. My family and I are excited to be a part of the BC family.”
In his current role, Caparro oversees all ticket sales and service functionalities for the Brooklyn Nets. He leads pricing and product development of the Nets ticket initiatives, including premium seating, season tickets, partial plans, and group tickets.

Previously, Caparro was a member of the Team Marketing & Business Operations group with the NBA, sharing sales and marketing best practices across the NBA, WNBA and D-League. He was also a key leader in the ticket sales efforts for USA Basketball, the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream inaugural season, and the relocation of the New Orleans Hornets to Oklahoma City following Hurricane Katrina.
Caparro began his career with the New Jersey Nets in 2000. A native of Upper Saddle River, NJ, Caparro graduated from Lehigh University where he was a member of the varsity football team. Caparro and his wife, Karen, have four children, Joseph, Caroline, Sophia and Isabel.
