ACC Announces 2014-15 Academic Honor Roll

BC's ACC Honor Roll Recipients
The 59th annual Atlantic Coast Conference Academic honor roll, recognizing academic excellence by student-athletes during the 2014-15 academic year, was announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. Boston College was ranked second in the ACC with 416 student-athletes honored by the conference.
The honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.00 or better for the full academic year. The conference acknowledged 4,147 student-athletes for their hard work in the classroom during the 2014-15 academic year.
Duke led the league with 478 selections. BC followed with 416. Notre Dame saw 414 student-athletes achieve honor roll status while North Carolina had 339 recognized. Virginia was fifth in the conference with 317 student-athletes recognized followed by Louisville with 285 in its first year of ACC membership. Syracuse was next with 266, followed by Pittsburgh with 246, Virginia Tech with 238, Florida State with 214, NC State with 210, Clemson with 196, Wake Forest with 183, Georgia Tech with 173 and Miami with 172.
The honor roll for Boston College features 40 football players including quarterback Tyler Murphy, running back Myles Willis, lineman Mehdi Abdesmad, defensive back Manuel Asprilla and kicker Alex Howell. The women's ice hockey team, which has advanced to the Frozen Four in four of the last five seasons, had 15 players on the honor roll, including the 2014-15 Eagle of the Year honoree Emily Pfalzer, who is a four-time recipient of the honor roll.
The women's field hockey team, which advanced to the NCAA Tournament, had 15 student-athletes on the honor roll including All-American Emma Plasteras, who is a three-time recipient of the honor roll.
The men's soccer team placed 13 athletes on the honor roll while women's soccer had 12 on the team including Stephanie McCaffrey, who currently plays professional soccer with the Boston Breakers. She is a four-time recipient of the honor.
The women's lacrosse team placed 17 players on the team, including Tewaaraton Award Finalist Sarah Mannelly and Michaela Rix, who is a three-time recipient of the honor roll.
The men's and women's swim team placed 59 student-athletes on the honor roll while the rowing team placed 43 student-athletes on the team. Men's and women's track and field had 67 honorees, including All-American Liv Westphal, who is a four-time recipient of the honor.
The sailing team had 22 honored including three-time recipient Elizabeth Barnard. Men's and women's basketball had seven honorees, including Nicole Boudreau a three-time recipient of the honor roll. Eight baseball players were honored including Jeff Burke, a three-time honoree.
