Bleday Shines at BU Terrier Invite

Boston, Mass.-- The Eagles headed to the Boston University Terrier Invite this weekend to take on some of the Northeast's best runners. Many Eagles set season bests and personal records in an all-around strong showing by Boston College.
The meet began on Friday evening for the men's team as they competed in the Distance Medley Relay. Patrick Daly (3:03), Darren James (48.2), Gabriel McLarnan (1:53), and Colin Fedor (4:12) combined for an official time of 9:57.41, earning them third place out of eight.
The majority of men's events took place on the second day of the Invitational. Freshman Gabriel McLarnan participated in the 800 meters early in the day, setting his new personal record. (1:53.99)
McLarnan wasn't the only Eagle to set a personal best in the 800, Junior Ryan Cooney bested his previous time, set last at the BU Valentine, with a time of 1:54.19.
Sophomore Nicholas Nash set a new personal record for himself at 50.45 and won his section in the process.
One of several IC4A qualifying times came from freshman Evan Gray in the 500 meters, setting a personal record of 1:04.95.
The performance of the day came from senior John Bleday. Bleday competed in the 3000 meters. Bleday got out to a quick start, helping set the pace on the first mile of the race. He went on to finish twelfth overall out of 104 competitors, setting a top- 10 BC time of 8:07.64.
The Eagles look forward to their next meet at the BU Scarlet and White next weekend.
