CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Three Boston College women's tennis players are ranked in the top 12 in the spring's first set of regional rankings released this week by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), while a pair of players are nationally ranked.
Senior Jessica Wacnik will enter the spring season as the Northeast Region's No. 1 women's singles player. In addition to holding the top ranking in the Northeast, Wacnik is also ranked 61st nationally in singles. This past fall, Wacnik qualified for the 32-player 2014 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, New York, but suffered a three-set loss in the opening round.
Sophomore Lexi Borr enters the spring ranked eighth in the Northeast and 103rd nationally in singles, while freshman Assiya Dair is ranked 12th in the Northeast.
Wacnik and Dorr also combine to form the Eagles' top doubles tandem, which will enter the spring ranked third in the Northeast Region.
The Eagles, who are ranked 49th nationally as a team, are set to resume play next weekend when they play at Dartmouth on Saturday, January 17, at 1:30 p.m. The following weekend, they will travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, for a pair of matches during the ITA Kick-off Weekend. On Saturday, January 24, the Eagles will face No. 38 LSU in a non-conference battle, before taking on either No. 4 North Carolina or No. 71 Minnesota on Sunday, January 25.
