HANOVER, N.H.- Sophomore Lexi Borr had a strong start capturing victories in both singles and doubles, but Dartmouth would end up defeating No. 49 Boston College, 4-3.
"Very frustrating day for us," said head coach Nigel Bentley. "We didn't play our best tennis, but give Dartmouth credit. They're a very good team."
The Eagles were down quickly after losing the doubles point to open the match.
Jessica Wacnik and Lexi Borr, ranked 3rd in the Northeast Region for doubles, proved they hadn't lost a step with a 6-4 win. Dartmouth would end up taking the next two doubles matches, grabbing an early 1-0 lead.
No. 61 Wacnik had a tough time against No. 92 Taylor Ng, losing both sets (1-6, 0-6).
After losing the first set to Katherin Yau (6-7), No. 103 Lexi Borr retaliated by winning her next two sets (6-3, 6-2).
Freshman Asiya Dair lost a tough match to Kristina Mathis (6-2, 5-7, 5-7). Despite the loss, assistant coach Kieran Burke liked what he saw from their newest addition.
"Asiya had a tough match," he said. "It was a loud first match for her, but there were a lot of positives to take away from it."
Boston College will now turn their focus to the ITA Kick-Off Weekend next Saturday, January 21st. They'll open up against No. 38 Louisiana State University.
"We need to have a good week of practice," said Coach Bentley. "We'll be ready for LSU next weekend."
