Bleday Shines at Yale Invitational

New Haven, Conn. – Boston College men’s track and field resumed action in the New Year, competing at the Yale University Invitation on Saturday afternoon. The meet was highlighted by senior John Bleday’s first place finish in the 800m and second place finish in the mile.
The Eagles were highly represented in the 800m, with senior John Bleday capturing the win at 1:56.10. Senior Patrick Daly was close behind in fourth place with a time of 1:56.74. Sophomore Ryan Cooney clocked a 1:59.36 for ninth place. Junior Tom Hennessy ran a 1:59.84 for 13th, while sophomores Robery Somary and Patrick McGuirk finished at 2:00.43 and 2:00.91, respectively.
In the mile, senior John Bleday finished second overall with a time of 4:09.24. Following Bleday were Richard Lucas (4:25.14), Collin Fedor (4:25.99), and James Zingarini (4:29.75).
In the 200m dash, sophomore Darren James placed eighth at 23.25 while freshman Brendan Bnadio placed 17th at 23.46, junior Owie Agbontaen placed 19th at 23.58, and Neil Thakker placed 21st at 23.64.
Darren James placed a strong third in the 400m dash with a time of 50.39.
In the 500m, freshman Evan Gray was BC’s top finisher, placing seventh at 1:06.79. Sophomore Caelum Maloney finished in 17th at 1:09.36.
Freshman Gabriel McLarnan placed ninth in the 1000m with a time of 2:35.80.
Freshman Daniel Moverman was the top BC finisher in the 3000m, placing fourth with a time of 8:51.88. Behind Moverman were Michael Stephens (9:03.26), David Taranto (9:16.68), and Sam Gray (9:24.46).
Devaun Bovell posted an 8.56 effort in the 60m hurdles.
The men’s distance medley (1- Gabriel McLarnan, 2- Evan Gray, 3- Tom Hennessy, 4- Tyler Hanson) finished fifth with a time of 10:26.56.
The Eagles are back in action on Jan. 22 for a meet at Boston University.
