From the Desk of the AD: Welcome to Alumni Stadium
August 31, 2014 | Boston College Athletics
When you come to Alumni Stadium this Friday you will see a variety of changes all designed to improve your experience. The most publicized and visible changes over the summer that will significantly enhance everyone's enjoyment of the game are the two new video boards and LED ribbon boards wrapping around the stadium. The new boards are twice the size of the previous video boards and with two night games to begin the season, these state-of-the-art features will show extremely well and enable us to relive highlights throughout the games.
In addition to the new technology, fans will experience a brand new, state-of-the-art audio system. While we will be doing sound checks throughout the week to direct sound as precisely as possible to each seat, it is difficult to replicate real-time acoustics so we will be sending an electronic post-game survey asking for your feedback on the audio relative to your seat location.
You will notice that we have added staff at all gates in order to expedite your access into the stadium and will have greeters at most entrances. We are positioning "Gameday Ambassadors" throughout the area to assist our fans with questions, directions or inquiries. We are implementing a student "Gold Pass App" for a rewards program that tracks student attendance as well as the length of their stay at games so they can accrue more points for longevity. Loyalty cards will engage season ticket holders with discounts on concessions and merchandise. You will see a more diverse menu at concessions this season thanks to feedback from our fans. By request, we are implementing a Shea Field parking grid and special guest access through wristbands so our fans can specifically identify who they want to attend their tailgate. We are engaging in a substantial recycling program with a first-year goal of at least 50 percent of materials being recycled each game. You will see a former student-athlete tent village at Gate C as well as 10 x 10 tents forming a gauntlet of atmosphere on Campanella Way heading toward the stadium. We have initiated a new children's football ticket rate that is even more affordable for families, a reduced ticket rate for veterans and current military personnel, a partnership with Zoomph to increase fan engagement with social media and we will be entertained by BC student musical groups just outside Alumni Stadium.
Oh, by the way, all the new initiatives from last year will return, from the Eagle Walk down the stairs with the Gasson Bells ringing in the background to student features on the field to distinguished alumni recognitions to Homecoming 2014 to reduced regulations to fireworks to the Pep Rally prior to Homecoming. We can't wait to see you at Alumni Stadium this Friday night.
Have a GREAT time!
