AMHERST, Mass. - The Boston College men's track and field team competed in the UMass Invitational on Saturday at the UMass Track & Field Complex.
Sophomore Mitchell McGinty led the way with a win in the javelin throw at 58.29m. That toss qualified him for the New England Championships. Freshman William Maguire placed seventh in the event with a throw of 49.05m.
Sophomore Nicholas Denari finished second in the 10,000m with a time of 32:57.10, just 34 tenths of a second behind the winner. Freshman Michael Stephens placed eighth in the 5000m with a mark of 15:47.36 while classmate Joseph Arquillo finished 13th at 15:59.62.
Freshman Adedeji Fajana also turned in a top 10 performance, finishing 10th in the long jump at 5.92m.
The men will take part in the 2014 ACC Championships which begin on Thursday at North Carolina.
