John Maloy Continues To Shine

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College's John Maloy competed at the USA Swimming Open Water National Championships this past weekend at Long Beach in California. Maloy, who will be a senior in the fall, placed 19th in the 5K course with a time of 59 minutes and 39 seconds.
Maloy, a native of Wildwood Crest, N.J., has earned the team MVP since arriving on campus three years ago. He placed in the 400 IM and the 1650 freestyle this past season at the 2010 ACC Championships. Maloy earned the most outstanding performer of the Terrier Invitational in November as he won the 500 yard freestyle, 400 yard IM, and 1650 yard freestyle.
Deni Cullom, who will begin his first year at the Naval Academy this fall, won the race in 57:06 with former Virginia swimmer Fran Crippen finishing second and UNC's Chip Peterson rounding out the top three.
