Boston College Director of Athletics Gene DeFilippo has announced that Tom Peters and Eric Ziady have been promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Directors.
"Tom and Eric are very deserving of these promotions," DeFilippo said. "We are grateful for their dedication to Boston College Athletics and congratulate them for a job well done."
Peters is in his 19th year at Boston College, having joined the Eagles' staff in January 1992. His responsibilities include overseeing nine of the men's and women's athletic programs -- men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's fencing and baseball -- and serving as the department's liaison with numerous athletic-related support groups. Peters has also served as tournament manager for a host of postseason events, including the 2009 NCAA Men's Basketball East Regional, the 1999 and 2003 NCAA Men's Basketball East Region First and Second Rounds and the 2003 Intercollegiate Fencing Association championships.
Peters is also a member of the men's and women's Beanpot Hockey Tournament Committees and served on the executive committee of Women's Hockey East from the league's inception in 2002-03 through his time as chair of the committee during the 2006-07 season. Peters currently serves on the Hockey East Championships Committee.
Ziady is in his 12th year at Boston College. He came to the Heights in March of 1998 after spending nine years at Northeastern University, the last four as assistant director of athletics. At BC, he handles both the long-range fiscal planning for the department and the day-to-day monitoring and administration of all business operations, including operating, endowed and gift accounts.
This past year, Ziady negotiated the six-year, multi-million dollar sponsorship agreement with Under Armour (set to begin July 1) that will outfit all 31 sports programs as well as provide financial support for the department. In addition, he handles football game scheduling and contract administration, as well as overseeing five of the men's and women's athletic programs (football, men's and women's golf and men's and women's sailing).
