Swimming and Diving Hosts New England Invitational

The Boston College swimming and diving team hosted five teams from the region, Regis College, Bryant, Providence, UMass-Amherst, and Keene State, in the New England Invitational on Saturday at the Flynn Recreation Complex Pool.
While there were no team scores recorded in the event, the Eagles received standout performances from Caryn Switaj and John Maloy, who each recorded three individual wins for the Eagles.
Switaj took first place in the 100 yard freestyle (53.99), the 200 yard freestyle (1:56.97) and the 100 yard individual medley (59.15).
Evangelina Barnard and Jenna DiNovis both notched two wins, with Barnard taking first in the 100 yard backstroke (1:02.57) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:17:07) and DiNovis winning the 500 yard freestyle (5:10.73) as well as the 1650 yard freestyle (11:01.14).
Holley Mesuda won the 200 yard breaststroke (2:33.81) and Katie Mann took first place in the 50 yard freestyle (25.24) for the Eagles.
Maloy led the men with first place finishes in the 200 yard individual medley (1:58.91), the 100 yard backstroke (54.66), and the 200 yard backstroke (1:56.98).
Freshman Nicholas Sung added a win the 100 yard butterfly (54.11).
In the relays, the women's 200 yard freestyle relay team of Mann, Barnard, Jessie Couper, and Switaj took first place (1:45.81). The women's 200 yard medley relay team of Kayla Posocco, Caroline Hayes, Switaj, and Barnard also won for BC.
The Eagles will send representatives from both the men's and women's team to the ACC Championships in College Park, Md. in the next two weeks. The women's meet will take place from Feb. 18-21, while the men's meet will run from Feb. 25-28.
