
Women's Swimming and Diving Finishes 11th at ACC Championships

College Park, Md. - The Boston College women's swimming and diving team placed 11th at the ACC Championships, totaling 64 points during the bcompetition at the Eppley Recreation Center Natatorium.
The Eagles broke six school records during the four-day meet in four relays, and two individual events.
Both individual records were set by Katie Fritsch, who established the 100 yard backstroke record on Friday (55.97), and then broke her own record in the 200 yard backstroke record Saturday, clocking in at 2:00.05 to place 20th overall in the event. Fritsch had previously shattered the record during the preliminary rounds, with a mark of 2:00.74. The record had been held for nine years by Brianne Sullivan (2:05.93), who established it at the 2000 ECAC Championships.
The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Caroline Byron, Kelly Leahey, Patricia Kautz, and Michaela Morr broke a six year old record with a mark of 3:27.95, besting the previous record of 3:28.23.
In the 400 yard medley relay, Fritsch, Morr, Katherine Chin, and Byron combined to break another school record, clocking in at 3:49.86. That record had previously been set at 3:50.48 in the 2004 ECAC Championships. In earlier competition, Fritsch, Morr, MacKenzie Campbell, and Lia Breunig set a new mark in the 200 medley relay (1:46.26), breaking the previous record of 1:46.52. Caroline Byron, Kelly Leahey, Aydan Sarikaya, and Lauren Nightengale also shattered a school record with their time in the 800 freestyle relay (7:34.94).
