Boston College opened the first set with nine kills and two service aces to start the day. Freshman Krissy Mussenden tallied one of the aces as well as one kill and five assists during the frame. The BC offense would not be enough to overcome the Terrapins and Maryland would take the first set, 25-21.
The second set proved to be much of the same for the two teams. The Eagles improved their total of kill total to 10 and had three blocks during the second set as well. Maryland still managed to control the match, however, and the Eagles dropped the second frame 25-21.
The Eagles continued to add to their kill total in the third set, posting 12 during the frame with two blocks as well. Senior Taylor Williams tallied five of the kills for BC. Unfortunately, the Terrapins were prepared for the Eagles' attack and won the third set 25-22, sealing the match.
The Eagles offense was led by Williams and sophomore Rainey Hanley, who each notched eight kills for BC on the day. Sophomore Brennan Clark's 16 digs were tops for her team while junior Kristen Baader followed closely with 15.
