The Boston College cheerleading team will be featured on the Discovery Channel's Time Warp program this Wednesday, November 26 between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. EST. The program will analyze the cheerleaders' routines using super slow-motion cameras.
"The team works really hard," said BC Cheer coach Lauren Millette. "It's great to get national exposure for how hard they work. It is great."
The segment was filmed at Alumni Stadium in early September after Millette was approached by the network in late August. In the show, MIT scientist and teacher Jeff Lieberman uses new technologies to bring truly never-before-seen wonders into a form that your body can actually process.
"It came about very quickly," said Millette. "They were looking to examine athletic teams and explore the science that makes a great athlete. The physics of cheer and gymnastics are very interesting."
The entire team spent a full day filming for the segment and say they were able to learn about how to improve as a team even though Wednesday will be the first time they will have seen the finished broadcast.
"It was a lot of fun," said Millette. "We learned a lot about how to improve and are looking forward to seeing the show."
The episode will re-air on the Discovery Channel at 12:30 a.m. EST Thursday morning and at 9:30 a.m. EST on Sunday, November 30.
