Women's Swimming Has Strong Showing in Opening Meet

The Boston College women's swimming and diving team recorded two wins in its opening meet at Loyola College on Oct. 11.
The Eagles defeated Catholic, 254-39, and Loyola (Md.), 218-82, but were edged by Navy, 165-135.
Leading the way for BC was freshman Megan Hennessey, who took first place in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.00) and second place in the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.74).
Anna Smith finished first in the 200 yard butterfly (2:11.47) and Devon Kelly was first as well in 1 meter diving (240.35) to round out the wins for the Eagles.
Caroline Byron (2nd in 50 and 100 yard freestyle) and Aydan Sarikaya (2nd in 1000 yard freestyle, 3rd in 500 yard freestyle) also had strong performances for BC.
The Eagles will return to action in their first home meet of the season on Oct. 17 at 6 pm against Northeastern.
