Boston College assistant athletics director Steve Bushee received the Boston University Athletic Training Program Certificate of Recognition in acknowledgment of his leadership and dedication in educating and mentoring aspiring athletic trainers for the past 15 years.
The award was presented by Mark Laursen, the Interim Athletic Training Education Program Director at Boston University, on May 14, 2007. The goal of the certificate is to recognize individuals who have made contributions to the recognition, development and advancement of the athletic training profession.
According to the program's release, "Bushee and his staff have become one of the premier educational sites in the country, teaching and practicing evidence-based medicine, delivering outstanding health care, and modeling professional and personal behaviors that allow students to see athletic training in the context of their lives. The support of Boston College and its staff in providing a complete educational experience to athletic training students that includes opportunities for direct patient care, physician interaction and team travel are just a few examples of their commitment to the educational process."
Bushee, who joined the Boston College sports medicine staff in 1984, is now in his 11th year directing BC's Sports Medicine staff. He was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director/Sports Medicine in 1999.
A native of Lebanon, N.H., Bushee is a 1981 graduate of Colgate University where he majored in biology. He added a master's degree in higher education administration from Boston College in 1994.
