"Balls For Belize" is a project in which old and unused athletic equipment is donated to a Catholic primary school in San Pedro, Belize. The BC Women's Volleyball team collected a variety of items from other Varsity teams, including: footballs, softballs, volleyballs, soccer balls, running shoes, cones, and t-shirts. A contest was held to see which team could raise the most money, with the winners receiving professional massages. The money was used to cover the cost of shipping the items, and the children received their new gear over Christmas break.
On behalf of the Women's Volleyball team, junior Abigail Hasebroock is collecting athletic shoes to be donated to the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Foot Clinic. Over the next few weeks, all are welcome to donate a pair of shoes that are no longer used. Something as simple as a pair of shoes is too often taken for granted, and the hope is that this collection will make others' lives a little bit easier.
