More than 25 Boston College student-athletes gathered in the Alumni Stadium press box on Wednesday, April 26 to make phone calls to Flynn Fund donors thanking them for their generous support. The BC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee teamed with the Flynn Fund to have representatives from more than 10 teams participate by making calls to simply say "thank you" to donors.
The student-athletes reached more than 500 donors who have made gifts during this fiscal year (June 1, 2005 - May 31, 2006). The Flynn Fund supports scholarships and operating costs for Boston College's 31 varsity sports.
"It was very rewarding to sense the appreciation of the donors that they were being called directly by someone who is benefiting from their gifts," said junior women's basketball player Sarah Marshall. "As a scholarship student-athlete, I know how appreciative I am for what my BC education means to me, and I know that much of that is made possible by the Flynn Fund."
Last year, more than 4,400 alumni, parents and friends contributed more than $13 million to BC Athletics. With a strong finish this year, BC Athletics hopes to surpass each of those numbers. If you have not made your gift this year and wish to do so before the end of the Fiscal Year (May 31), you may log onto www.bc.edu/give to make a gift online (be sure to choose Flynn Fund) or call the Flynn Fund office at 617-552-0772 to make your gift over the phone.
