Swimming And Diving Defeat Dartmouth

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Swimming and Diving captured a dual meet victory defeating Dartmouth College Friday night at the Flynn Recreation Complex. The men defeated the Big Green 173-126 while the women survived 156.5-143.5, again winning the last relay of the meet.
Senior Thomas Martz led the Eagles capturing two first-place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard fly. Junior Joseph Maloy, senior Thomas Nececkas and sophomore Tommy Chandler all earned two top-three finishes in their respective events.
Chandler would win the 200 yard fly with a time of 2:01.33 and place third in the 200 IM. Maloy would win the 500 Free while placing second in the 1000. Nececkas would finish second in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke respectively.
Sophomore Robert Swaninger, senior Christopher Wilson-Byrne and the 200 yard medley and 400 yard freestyle relay teams, also earned wins for the Eagles.
On the women's side, sophomore Caroline Byron was again impressive earning three first-place finishes in the 200, 50, and 100 free respectively.
Junior Tanya Suryoutomo and freshman Ashley Leprine collected wins for the Eagles. Suryoutomo won the 100 and 200 yard backstroke, while Leprine captured the 200 yard breaststroke.
However, it was the 400 yard freestyle relay team of Kelly Leahey, Tanya Suryoutomo, Caryn Switaj and Caroline Byron that came up big for the Eagles as they took first in the last relay to give BC the win.
The men's team is back in action on Tuesday, November 7 when they will race against Providence at 6:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I.
