Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats BU

Boston, Mass. - Caroline Byron contributed to four BC victories as the Women's simming and diving team defeated rival Boston University, 171-123.
Byron took individual victories in the 200 yard freestyle (1:55.01) and 100 yard freestyle (52.92). She swam the freestyle leg in the 200 yard medley relay with teammates Liz Byron, Carolyn Bowman, and Torey Thelin, who took the victory with a time of 1:50.15. She was also on the winning 200 yard freestyle relay team with Holly Boucher, Megan Hurd, and sister Liz, finishing in 1:37.01.
Liz Byron led a BC sweep in the 50 yard freestyle, taking the victory with a time of 24.26. Hurd finished second in 25.05, while Kelly Leahey followed in third with a 25.19.
Thelin had some strong individual performances, winning the 100 yard butterfly in 58.32, and finishing second in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.87.
Tanya Suryoutomo took two individual victories on the night, winning the 100 and 200 yard backstroke events with times of 1:00.59 and 2:10.21, respectively.
The Eagles return to action this Friday and Saturday, January 27-28, in a two-day meet at the University of Maine.
