
Men's Golf Posts Top-Ten Finish At Bearcat Classic

In its first tournament of the spring season, the men's golf squad finished ninth among the 17 participating teams at the Bearcat Classic played in Huntsville, Texas. The team shot a combined 921, finishing just behind Tennessee State.
The Raven Nest Golf Club is a par 71, 6,945-yard course. The Eagles came out of the gates hot, with junior Kyle Kelly and freshman Alex Snickenberger shooting +4 and +5 rounds, respectively, in the tournament's opening round.
Kelly, after his first-round 74, proceeded to shoot 78 and 76 in the remaining rounds. His total of 228 strokes on the weekend landed him tied for 32nd among competitors.
Snickenberger, finishing tied for 44th, shot a 75-80-76. In the first spring tournament of his young career, he completed the weekend with a 231.
Fellow first year Jim Granello finished third for BC, coming in a stroke behind Snickenberger with a 232 (80-76-76). Bob Reed and Jim Roney rounded out BC's team of five. Reed shot a 77-76-85 to finish with a 238 and Roney's 239 came as a result of his rounds of 92-79-78.
BC also entered another team into the tournament. The "gold" squad featured co-captain Eric Recher, who finished first on the gold team with a 242 (81-75-86). Brothers Phil Holden and Tim Holden notched scores of 247 and 249, respectively. Senior Matt Monaghan rounds out the gold team with a final total of 254 strokes.
The men's squad will next tee off at the William and Mary Invitational, played on March 20-21.
