Men's Swimming Finishes Seventh At ECAC Championships

Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Boston College men's swimming and diving team finished seventh at the ECAC Championships on Sunday at Pittsburgh's Trees Pool. The Eagles amassed a team total of 295 points during the meet.
On Saturday, the Eagles turned in their top relay performance of the meet with a third place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Tim Tully, Brandon Twichell, Thomas Martz, and Matt Northrup combined for a time of 1:34.97.
In the 400 individual medley, Tully finished fourth with a time of 4:04.82 to earn 14 points for BC.
Martz had a strong swim in the 100 butterfly. The sophomore hit the wall third in a time of 50.27.
Two Eagles placed in the 200 freestyle. Faughnan and David Herman came in 12th and 16th, respectively.
In the 100 breaststroke, Twichell earned 13 points for the Eagles with a sixth place finish. Twichell came in with a time of 58.01.
BC ended the day with the 800 freestyle relay. The squad of Herman, Faughnan, Tully, and Northrup finished eighth in a time of 6:59.40.
On Sunday, Herman started the Eagles off on the right foot with a ninth place finish in the 1650 freestyle. The senior turned in a time of 16:21.43. Billy Schwitter also scored points for the Eagles with a 13th place finish in a time of 16:41.38.
In the 200 backstroke, Tully came in seventh with a time of 1:55.14.
Andrew Faughnan earned 12 points for BC in the 100 freestyle. Faughnan took seventh with a time of 46.75.
Twichell captured an individual title in the 200 breaststroke. The senior won the race in a time of 2:04.89.
In the one meter dive, Christopher Wilson-Byrne scored key points for the Eagles. The sophomore finished second with 246.75 points.
BC closed out the day with an eighth place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Faughnan, Herman, Martz, and Northrup combined for a time of 3:08.88.
