Women's Swimming Leads At ECAC Championships After Day Two

Pittsburgh, Pa. - After two days of competition at the ECAC Championships the Boston College women's swimming and diving team is atop of the leader board with 433 points. The Eagles close out the meet on Sunday at the University of Pittsburgh's Trees Pool and look to repeat their title.
On Saturday night, the 200 medley team of Tanya Suryoutomo, Carolyn Bowman, Liz Byron, and Elizabeth Snyder took second place. The team combined for a time of 1:46.54. New Hampshire won the race with a time of 1:46.36.
In the 400 individual medley, Mari Wunschel earned 17 points for the Eagles with a second place finish. Wunschel turned in a time of 4:30.69. Katie Martin and Katie Barry finished 14th and 15, respectively, with times of 4:45.69 and 4:46.40.
Torey Thelin repeated her individual title in the 100 butterfly with a winning time of 56.63. Byron came in fourth with a time of 57.18. Juliet Paradine also scored points for the Eagles with a 10th-place finish in a time of 59.19.
In the 200 freestyle, Snyder turned in an impressive performance with a sixth place finish. Snyder came in with a time of 1:55.63. Karen Tellekamp came in 15th with a time 1:57.82.
Bowman continued to score points for BC in the 100 breaststroke. The sophomore finished fifth with a time of 1:05.80. Nikoll Julien finished sixth with a time 1:06.81. Holly Boucher also added points for the Eagles with a 14th place finish in a time of 1:08.50.
In the 100 backstroke, three swimmers placed for BC. Suryoutomo came in sixth with a time of 59.40, while Juliet Paradine and Amy Bromann finished 14th and 15th, respectively.
The team of Wunschel, Snyder, Bowman, and Karen Tellekamp took seventh place in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:55.20 to close out Saturday nights finals.
In diving, Jennifer Rhines came in third with 231.75 points on the 1-meter. Maeve Brennan also scored with 220.70 points for sixth place.
BC will look to repeat its title on Sunday in the final day of competition.
