Women's Swimming Takes Eighth Place At Big East Championships

East Meadow, N.Y. - The Boston College women's swimming and diving team continued to compete in the Big East Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center this weekend. The Eagles finished in eighth place with 216 points. Notre Dame won the meet with 804 points.
Tanya Suryoutomo contributed to BC's points total with an 11th-place finish in the 200 backstroke. The freshman turned in a time of 2:06.17.
Liz Byron continued to dominate the sprint freestyle events for the Eagles. After finishing third in the 50 freestyle, the junior took 12th in the 100 with a time of 52.06.
Carolyn Bowman had BC's top-individual performance of the day with a fifth place finish in the 200 breaststroke. The sophomore came in with a time of 2:21.23.
The Eagles also swam strong in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Elizabeth Snyder, Suryoutomo, Holly Boucher, and Byron finished seventh with a time of 3:03.40.
BC will look to defend its ECAC title next weekend in Pittsburgh, Pa.
