Men's Swimming Downs Maine, 184-136

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Tim Tully won three individual events to lead the Boston College men's swimming and diving team to a 184-136 victory over the University of Maine on Saturday. The Eagles won three relays against the Black Bears to help them improve to 8-3 on the season.
The relay teams had an impressive meet by sweeping all three events. In the 200 medley relay the team of Tully, Brandon Twichell, Thomas Martz, and Matt Northrup set a meet record with a time of 1:38.09. The Eagles also swam well in the 400 freestyle relay. The squad of Daniel Kollar, Andrew Faughnan, Tully, and Twichell won the heat by more than nine seconds with a time of 3:17.75. BC closed out the day with a victory in the 200 free relay. Martz, David Herman, Faughnan, and Northrup took home the win at 1:25.60.
The Eagles dominated the individual medley races. In the 200 I.M. BC took the top-four finishes. Tully set a meet record with a winning time of 1:58.69, while Twichell came in second at 159.63. Colin Scott and Martz finished third and fourth, respectively, at 2:01.94 and 2:02.42. Tully also won the 400 I.M. with a time of 4:12.84. Twichell and Scott hit the wall second and third, respectively.
Thomas Nececkas had an impressive meet with two individual wins in the backstroke. The sophomore earned victories in both the 100 and 200 with times of 57.11 and 2:01.70.
BC also controlled the butterfly events. In the 100, Martz set a meet record with a time of 51.75. He earned the meet's outstanding performance award for his efforts. Tully won his third individual event with a victory in the 200 at 1:58.28.
In diving, Christopher Wilson-Byrne won both the 1-meter and 3-meter with 263.48 and 243.15, respectively. Kerry Fino took second in the 1-meter with 202.88 points.
BC will travel to Worcester, Mass. to swim against Holy Cross on Tuesday, February 8 at 6 p.m.
