Men's Swimming Falls To Massachusetts

Amherst, Mass. - The Boston College men's swimming team fell to the University of Massachusetts at the Joseph Rogers Jr. Pool in Amherst, Mass. on Saturday. The Eagles dropped the meet 212-88 to bring them to 6-3 on the season.
The Eagles got on the board with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Tim Tully, Brandon Twichell, Thomas Martz, and Matt Northrup touched out an UMass squad to take second with a time of 1:37.73.
Tully had a strong meet with two second place finishes. In the 200 butterfly the senior hit the wall second with a time of 1:57.19. Teammate Jonathan Salibra touched behind Tully at 2:01.83. Tully also took home second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58.43. Michael Cartwright took third at 1:59.18.
David Herman continued to dominate the middle-distance freestyle events for the Eagles. The senior won the 200 with a time of 1:44.99 to give BC nine points.
Brandon Twichell had impressive swims in the breaststroke events. In the 100, the senior won the heat with a time of 59.69 and in the 200 he took second at 2:10.57.
In diving, Christopher Wilson-Byrne helped the Eagles with a second place finish in the 1-meter with 245.02 points and a third place finish in the 3-meter with 219 points.
The Eagles closed out the meet with a strong swim in the 400 freestyle relay. The squad of Andrew Faughnan, Herman, Martz, and Northrup touched the wall second at 3:13.36.
BC (6-3) will face cross-town rival Boston University on Wednesday, January 26 at 7 p.m.
