Eight Boston College Teams Ranked In Nation's Top 25

The recent success for Boston College athletics has continued, with eight teams currently ranked in the national top 25.
Women's soccer finished the regular season ranked 25th in the NSCAA/adidas soccer poll and won its first two games in the NCAA Tournament to make it into the round of 16 for the first time since 1999. The Eagles advanced past No. 24 Florida State in the first round on penalty kicks and beat Central Florida 2-1 in the second round. BC travels to Princeton for a third-round match on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The men's soccer team was one 16 teams to receive a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament. The No. 15 Eagles return to the tournament after a one-year hiatus and will host the winner of Saturday's Marist/Connecticut contest.
The 19th-ranked football team defeated No.10 West Virginia this past Saturday, 36-17. The Eagles will travel to Temple this Saturday.
Men's Ice Hockey is the country's top-ranked squad and sports a 4-2-1 record. The Eagles lost to cross-town rival Harvard, 3-1, on Tuesday night.
Field Hockey finished the regular season ranked 13th in the national poll. The Eagles lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Michigan State, 4-0.
Women's Basketball is ranked 18th in country entering the 2004-05 season. The Eagles will play Western Michigan in the opening round of the Spartan Classic on Saturday in East Lansing, Mich. BC won an exhibition game last week over Team Concept, 80-48.
The women's sailing team is ranked fourth in the nation and the co-ed squad is ranked eighth.
Volleyball finished fourth in the Big East regular season and qualified for the conference tournament for the first time in school history. The Eagles are fifth in the RichKern.com/AVCA Division I regional rankings. The tournament begins Saturday in Pittsburgh.
