Men's Track And Field Finishes Fifth At Terrier Cup

BOSTON - The men's track team finished in fifth place at the Terrier Cup on Saturday, Jan. 17 held at the Boston University Pavilion. Rhode Island won the meet accumulating 93.5 points while Maine, BU, and Providence rounding out the top four finishers. The Eagles amassed 34 points on the day.
Boston College was led by senior Shawn Wallace (Wakefield, Mass.) who captured first in the 1,000-meter run finishing with a time of 2:28.26.
Junior Dan MacIsaac (Natick, Mass.) placed third in the 800-meter run. He crossed the line in 1:57.24.
A number of freshmen turned in top performances for the Eagles. Louis Canelli (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) was the runner-up in the high jump leaping 6-02.00 while classmates Stephen Walsh (Jamestown, R.I.) and Mark Alizzi (Syosset, N.J.) were the top Eagle finishers in the mile, taking home fourth and fifth. Freshmen Tom Wehr (South Windsor, Conn.) and Chris Caulfield (Caldwell, N.J.) finished sixth and ninth to lead the Eagles in the 200-meter dash. Steve Englehardt (Harriman, N.Y.) cleared 12-00.00 in pole vault competition, good enough for sixth place.
Junior Ashley Jefferson (Newton, Mass.) placed in the top ten in all three events he competed. He grabbed fourth in the triple jump leaping 44-04.00 and seventh in both the long jump (20-09.00) and the 55-meter dash (6.84). Junior Anthony Montiero (Brockton, Mass.) was the top Eagle performer in the 55-meter dash, finishing sixth.
The team travels to Durham, N.H. on Saturday, Jan. 24 to face New Hampshire, Holy Cross and UMass. The action starts at 12 p.m.
