Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College women's swim team won 10 of 16 events over the visiting Wildcats of New Hampshire en route to a 176-123 victory over the Wildcats in Chestnut Hill, Mass. After a second-, third-, and fourth-place finish in the opening 200-yard medley relay, BC swimmers claimed the best showing in eight of the next 10 events. The 1000-yard freestyle yielded a one-two Eagle punch when Kim Garcia finished with an event-winning time of 10:30.92 (team's most outstanding performance), followed by Leigh Going at 10:45.58. In the meet's ninth event, the 100-yard breaststroke, BC swept the top-three spots, led by Nikoll Julien's victorious clocking of 1:08.64 with Michelle Lane and Carolyn Bowman finishing second (1:08.76) and third (1:09.02), respectively.
Lauren Keibler bested the field in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.73), out-touching her nearest competitor, UNH's Ashley Fish, by 0.26 of a second. In the next event, Liz Byron won the first of three individual events on the day with her 24.86 performance in the 50-yard freestyle. Megan Hurd and Holly Boucher followed, clocking in at 25.37 and 25.52 for second and third, respectively, in the sprint free event. Byron also touched the wall first in both the 100-yard freestyle (53.53) and 100-yard butterfly (58.35).
Another multi-event winner was Jennifer Rhines, whose 248.75 points on the one-meter board and 254.33 points in the three-meter diving competition topped the field and earned her the team's outstanding performer award.
In addition to third in the 100 breaststroke, Carolyn Bowman won the 200-yard breaststroke and was third in the 200-yard individual medley (2:16.79).
