CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College (3-4-0, 0-2-0) women's ice hockey team lost their second game in a row Saturday afternoon 3-1 to the Maine Black Bears (3-4-2, 2-0-0).
Maine took control of game two right from the start, scoring their first goals within ten minutes. Christine Moynihan tended the net for the Eagle squad, for the second time this season. The second goal by the Black Bears came shortly after a BC penalty on Jill McInnis. McInnis was serving two minutes for checking. Kerri Sanders answered with a power play goal herself with just one second left on the clock. The goal was assisted by Alaina Clark and was the second goal of the season for Sanders.
The Eagles came back full strength for the second period, out shooting Maine to open. Both teams scrapped for the 20 minutes on the ice, each putting two players a piece in the penalty box for checking, high sticking and obstruction calls. Neither team was able to capitalize on the power plays.
Maine held on to the puck for a majority of the third. Getting 11 shots on Moynihan, the Black Bears were able to sneak one in from the corner of the crease. The Eagles only had three shots on net for the third period.
Boston College will return to the ice next Saturday when they visit Connecticut in the first of two meetings. The game down in Storrs is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
