Men's Track Ties For Second At Terrier Cup

BOSTON - The men's track team finished in a second-place tie with host school Boston University at the Terrier Cup on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the BU Track & Tennis Center. The Eagles and Terriers both scored 90 points. Rhode Island ran away with the meet, amassing 175 points.
A trio of Eagles picked up first-place finishes. Senior Shawn Wallace (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield) won the mile in 4:13.66 while senior Vernon Mickle (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) claimed victory in the 800, crossing the finish line in 1:52.65. Both of those times are conference bests. Sophomore Trevor Rozier-Byrd (Freehold, N.J./CBA) edged past Maine's Pearce Creassman in the 1,000, 2:33.03 to 2:33.70, to take the race.
Sophomore Geoff Atkins (Avon, Conn./Avon) placed second in the 400 with a 49.42 clocking. The other Eagle to finish runner-up was sophomore Ryan Sullivan (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury Memorial), who cleared 6-4 in the high jump.
Senior Brian Mahoney (Weymouth, Mass./Boston College High) ran a strong mile, finishing in 4:18.41, good for third place. In the triple jump, junior Keith Normant (Needham, Mass./Boston College High) took third as well, leaping 44-0 ?.
The team returns to BU this Saturday for the Terrier Invitational. The action starts at 4:45 p.m.
