DeFilippo Announces Athletics Staff Promotions

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College Director of Athletics Gene DeFilippo has announced the promotion of three key members of the Athletics staff.
"I am very pleased and excited to announce these promotions," DeFilippo says. "These three individuals have shown outstanding dedication and loyalty to Boston College Athletics and have become a key part of our administrative team. These promotions serve as fitting recognition for jobs well done."
Lynn Holleran has been promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director/Compliance and Senior Women's Administrator. Now in her 10th year at BC, Holleran works with all 31 varsity programs, monitoring compliance with NCAA and BIG EAST rules and regulations. In addition, she administers the sports of field hockey, women's lacrosse, men's and women's cross country/track and field, men's and women's tennis, volleyball, softball and the recently added women's rowing team. She also assists with the women's basketball program.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Beloit (Wis.) College, Holleran was a three-sport athlete (basketball, soccer, and softball). Holleran came to BC from Northwestern University, where she was Assistant Director of Academic and Student Services. While working as a member of Northwestern's athletic staff, Holleran earned a master of management degree in marketing and organizational behavior from the university's J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Jim Paquette has been named Associate Athletic Director for Development. Now in his ninth year at BC, Paquette came to the Heights in 1994 as a development assistant. He was promoted to athletic development administrator in 1996 and was named Assistant Athletic Director for Development in December 1997.
Paquette supervises all aspects of fundraising associated with BC Athletics. He works closely with University Development to coordinate athletic giving at all levels. Recently, Paquette has focused his efforts on major gift development and specifically securing endowed athletic scholarships. Since his arrival at BC in 1994, athletics has secured more than $39 million in commitments.
Paquette began his career in athletic administration as an undergraduate at Providence College. He worked in the Friar athletic ticket and fundraising offices prior to accepting the position of Assistant Ticket Manager at the University of New Hampshire. He remained at UNH for one year before enrolling in the University of Massachusetts Sport Management program.
Eric Ziady has been promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations. Now in his fourth year at BC, Ziady came to the Heights in March 1998 after spending nine years at Northeastern University, the last four as assistant director of athletics. At BC, Ziady handles both the long-range fiscal planning for the department and the day-to-day monitoring and administration of all business operations. In addition, he handles football game scheduling and contract administration. In addition to working with all 31 varsity programs regarding financial matters, he will be assuming administrative responsibilities for six varsity programs.
A 1988 Providence College graduate, Ziady also earned a master's degree in sports management and a master's of business administration degree from Northeastern.
