Women's Rowing Excels On Charles River

BOSTON, Mass. - The Boston College women's rowing team won four races on Sunday morning at the Charles River in Boston, Mass. The Eagles competed against local schools in three varsity and two novice races, capturing four first-place finishes and one third-place result.
The teams competed on a challenging course with a strong head-wind and choppy water conditions.
In the first event of the day, the Varsity Four, Boston College finished in third place with a time of 9:04.1. Rhode Island took first place with a time of 8:28.9, followed by Radcliffe at 8:50.1.
The second Novice Eight race saw Boston College take top position with a time of 8:16.2. UNH came in second place at 8:29.2, followed by the Eagles' third Novice Eight at 9:10.8.
The third race of the day was the first Novice Eight event. BC won with a time of 7:54.6 ahead of UNH, who came in at 7:57.8, and URI (8:23.1).
The Varsity Eight continued the Eagles' success on the day, taking its event with a time of 7:36.9. URI finished in second place, twelve second back, just ahead of UNH.
The last race of the day produced BC's fourth win of the day, this time from the second Varsity Eight boat. BC finished with a time of 7:49.4, ahead of URI's 7:59.9.
The Eagles will return to action on April 24 at the 2002 BIG EAST Women's Rowing Challenge at Lake Quinsigamond (Worcester, Mass.).
