Swimmers Continue To Have Strong Showing At ECAC's

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - With only one day remaining in the 2001-02 Boston College men's and women's swimming season, several members of both squads continue to have strong showing at the Easter College Athletic Conference Championships at Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.
Freshmen Brandon Twichell (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and Caitlin Healey (Needham, Mass.) both had incredible performances Friday evening for the Eagles. Twichell earned the men's team 16 points by placing third in the 100-yard breaststroke, turning in a time of 58.05. Healey had one of her strongest performances of the season in the 200-yard freestyle, as she picked up 15 points for the women's team by placing fourth with a time of 1:54.52.
The only other swimmer to participate in an individual event for the Eagles on Friday night was sophomore Andrew Naumann (Tucson, Ariz.), who placed 11th in the 400-yard individual medley. He finished with a time of 4:12.66, which earned Boston College five points.
The Boston College relay teams continued to have success in the ECAC Championships. The men's 200-yard medley relay team of Naumann, Twichell, juniors Matthew Baker (Lakewood, Wash.) and Matthias Schildwachter (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) placed 11th, which earned the Eagles 12 points. They finished with a time of 1:36.81.
In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the women's team of Healey, freshman Lisa DelSignore (Shrewsbury, Mass.), sophomore Caitlin Klick (Chelmsford, Mass.) and junior Lauren Ohtake (Honolulu, Hawaii) placed ninth, turning in a time of 7:51.12. The men's 800-yard freestyle relay team of Naumann and freshman Michael Dellamano (Mattapoisett, Mass.), Robert Keely (Staten Island, N.Y.) and David Herman (San Anselmo, Calif.) concluded the evening with a 10th-place finish, completing the race with a time of 7:07.68.
