Beiswanger Named Diving Coach

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.--The Boston College men's and women's diving team is proud to announce that Deanna Beiswanger, a 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas, will join the Eagles for her first season at the Heights.
Beiswanger has six years of coaching experience. She served as an assistant under Kansas head coach Kevin Lawrence. She was also the head coach for Old Pike Community College team in Kansas City, Missouri. Beiswanger lead the Old Pike team to a win in their conference meet in 2001. Along with coaching age group teams, Beiswanger coached local high school divers in Kansas and Missouri for three years, leading these athletes to qualify for state competitions and earn spots in the finals.
Beiswanger received both her bachelor and master's degrees from the University of Kansas. She dove four seasons for the Jayhawks, twice reaching the finals of the Big 12 Conference meet. She qualified for the NCAA Zone Championship three times. As a student-athlete, she was a Jayhawk Scholar and was also named to the Big 12 All-Academic Team.
Beiswanger's diving career began in Derby, Kansas, where she spent most of her younger life as a gymnast. She was a Class I gymnast by the age of eleven and competed all over the Midwest. At Derby High School, Deanna won eight state titles in gymnastics. While in high school, she began competitive diving. Her gymnastic skills enabled her to achieve success as a diver. As a senior at Derby High School, Beiswanger placed fourth at the Kansas High School Championships.
Deanna Beiswanger has been a teacher for the past three years. She began a job this fall at Reading Memorial High School teaching secondary mathematics. She currently resides in Belmont, Mass.
