Volleyball Goes Down In Three

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of BIG EAST Conference opponent, Pittsburgh Friday evening. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 8-11 (0-3, BIG EAST). The Panthers improve to 14-5 (4-1, BIG EAST).
Pittsburgh thrived in front of the home crowd, sweeping the Eagles three games to none. Boston College played well, making for an intense match throughout. In each game, the competition was tight, but Pittsburgh's powerful offense propelled them to 30-24, 30-21 and 30-22 wins.
Panther Megan Miller, ranked fifth in the country coming into the match, led her team with a .462 hitting percentage. Miller received support from Sarah Rollman, who put forth a .400 percentage.
For the Eagles, sophomore setter Jessica Brizzolara coordinated the attack with 34 assists and led the defense with 12 digs. Dara Blandino had a strong performance, leading the team with nine kills. She also added two blocks, while teammates Rachel Bach and Kim Carlson recorded three blocks each.
Boston College will travel to Morgantown, W.V. for another BIG EAST conference match on Sunday, Oct. 13.
