CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - A national championship by the men's ice hockey team, a trip to the second round of the NCAA men's basketball tournament and a 23rd-place finish at the NCAA men's and women's fencing championship have put Boston College in 23rd-place in the latest standings for the Sears Directors' Cup.
The award is a joint effort between the National Association of College Directors of America (NACDA) and USA Today. It is administered by Sears, Roebuck and Co. and ranks schools based on performances in NCAA Championship play.
Stanford leads the current standings followed by Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. Notre Dame is the top BIG EAST school in 11th-place while BC is next in 23rd
Boston College's highest final finish in the Sears Directors' Cup, which started in 1993-94, was 56th last year.
