Men's Swimming and Diving Falls To Rider 147-141

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Despite dropping its second-consecutive dual meet, freshman Justin Welch turned in a strong performance for the Boston College men's swimming and diving team. Welch turned in first-place finishes in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle. Rider University defeated Boston College 147-141 Friday evening at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
Welch finished the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.33 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.57. Sophomore Joey Van Saun was the first individual winner of the evening for the Eagles when he won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.55.
Freshman Brandon Twitchell swam to a time of 1:01.05 in the 100-yard breaststroke, which was good enough for a first-place result. Twitchell also earned a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, as he finished with a time of 200-yard breaststroke.
Junior Jay Pollack was another winner for Boston College as he took home top honors in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 57.33. The men's 400-yard freestyle relay team was the last winner of the evening, as the relay team swam to a time of 3:20.89.
The men's swimming and diving team is back in action at 1 p.m. Sunday against Marist College at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
