CHEER TRY OUT INFORMATION
Boston College All Women and Coed Cheerleading try outs take place the weekend after spring final examinations. Please call the Boston College Cheerleading office for more information at 617-552-1078 to get the final times. ** Please note: There is no longer a fall try out for cheerleading. Spring is your only chance!
TRYOUTS WILL BE HELD
TRY OUT PROCEDURE
The purpose of tryouts is to pick the most talented athletes who give the best representation of Boston College. The Interview process, as well as the technical portion will aide the coaching staff in choosing the best all around team for Boston College. During the weekend, cuts are made until final teams are chosen.
NOTE: Boston College's program is arranged so that a cheerleader may be moved from one squad or the other depending on talent and ability, maturity, dedication, weight and body limitations, or strengths.
DAY 1 - TECHNICAL TRY OUT AND INTERVIEW
Technical - On the first day of try out weekend, all people interested in participating must go through a short technical try out so they may demonstrate all of their skills to the coaching staff. For the safety of all the athletes, this ensures that everyone who is trying out for the team has all of the required elements before they begin the rest of the try out process.
Interview - Because collegiate cheerleaders must be good role models and speakers for Boston College, each cheerleader will meet with the coaches, members of the Alumni Association and/or Administration. The interviews will be held in conjunction with the technical tryout on the first day.
**A list of those who will continue on to the next stage of the tryout will be posted Friday evening.
DAY 2 - MATERIAL AND TECHNICAL CLINICS AND CUTS
Selected athletes will meet on Saturday morning and learn collegiate material. They will master the material and the first round of try outs will take place on Saturday afternoon. This portion of the try out will include jumps, tumbling, stunts, and collegiate material.
**Those selected for the final try out will be posted on Saturday evening.
DAY 3 - FINAL DAY
The try out will conclude on Sunday morning with the final try out. The same material and technical areas will be used to choose the final teams. A judging panel of cheerleading experts will be utilized, however the coaching staff/administration will choose the teams. The coaching staff/administration selects the teams that will work best together and perform at the most elite level.
**Final teams will be posted Sunday afternoon.
