Men's Swimming and Diving Wins First Meet

Stony Brook, NY--Boston College's men's swimming and diving team (1-1) used nine first place finishes to win their first meet of the season against SUNY Stony Brook (0-2) on Saturday, October 28 at University Pool, Stoney Brook, N.Y. The Eagles won the meet 157 to 140 over the Seawolves.
Senior diver Mike Wilt won both the one and three-meter competitions to lead the Eagles to the win. Also collecting wins in two individual events was sophomore Matt Baker, winning the 50 freestyle (22.58) and the 100 freestyle (44.29). In the 1000 freestyle (10:56.67), sophomore Jay Pollack took his first win of the season.
Collecting his first and second collegiate wins, freshman Joey VanSaun won the 200 freestyle (1:52.72) and the 500 free (5:10.32). Sophomore Jack Beierle finished with two first place finishes, one in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.22 and the other in the 100 fly with 56:08.
The Eagles will return to action when they travel to Bridgewater, Mass. to compete against Bridgewater College on Thursday, November 2, in a meet schedule to begin at 6:00 p.m.
