Eagle Swimming Ranks Among Top 10 in Academics

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Both Boston College men's and women's swim teams were named to the College Swim Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America Academic team in a poll released by the NSCAA Aug. 10.
The women's team accumulated an all-time high grade point average of 3.363, placing fifth best in the nation. The Eagles were the top BIG EAST school and also the highest New England school rated, ranking above Ivy League squads Harvard and Brown. Seventy-three schools qualified for the CSCAA poll including 10 of the BIG EAST's 13 programs. The Eagles finished their regular season at 12-3 and eighth at the conference championships.
The men's cumulative G.P.A. of 3.205 also ranked as the program's best and was good enough for eighth in the country. BC was joined in the nation's Top 10 list by conference programs Notre Dame and Georgetown in addition to Ivy League squads Dartmouth, Brown and Harvard. BC was 7-6 in 1998, placing 13th in the loop.
