CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The Boston College womens swimming team captured its eighth win of the season by easily defeating Rhode Island 158-83 in a home meet at the Boston College Sports Complex. The Eagles improved to 8-2 this season, a perfect 3-0 in 1999. The Eagles were led by freshman Sarah Dreyer (Indianapolis, IN) who captured two first places finishes, one in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:55.74) and the other in the 200-yard butterfly (2:19.27). Her efforts earned her Outstanding Performer honors for the meet. Eagle head coach Tom Groden also gave junior Kara Glynn (Brandofrd, CT) Outstanding Performance honors as she won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.00, just six-hundredths of a second ahead of the second place finisher, Boston College senior Rachel Enos (Ispwich, MA).
Freshman Kim Rinaldi (West Boylston, MA) won both diving competitions in both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. She won two of the Eagles nine victories in the meet.
Boston College has two home meets in their next three competitions, starting with rival Boston University on Tuesday and then Maine on Sunday, January 31st.
