Women's Tennis Drops 5-4 Decision at Boston University

BOSTON - Boston College won three of the six singles matches, but could manage only one win in three doubles matches in a 5-4 loss at Boston University.

BC sophomore Cynthia Tow won a three-set match at first singles and junior Barbara Privrel earned a straight-set victory at second singles. Junior Mercedes del Valle captured the Eagles' final singles triumph at fourth singles. Two BC players - sophomore Kiren Fernando and junior Kim Arbuckle - lost their singles matches in three sets.

Privrel and del Valle defeated their Terrier foes at second doubles, but BU won the other two doubles matches to earn the team victory.

Boston College next travels to Providence, R.I. for the Brown Invitational on October 9-10.

Notes: With her victory, Tow raised her record to 10-3 this fall ... Privrel's win gave her an 8-3 record ... Privrel and del Valles doubles win moved their record to a team-best 6-3 this fall.
