Women's Tennis Competes in Cissie Leary Invitational

Sophomore Cynthia Tow (Chestnut Hill, MA) won eight of nine sets en route to the finals of the singles competition at the Cissie Leary Invitational in Philadelphia, PA.
Tow won four consecutive matches before falling to the University of Pennsylvania's Anastasia Pozdniakova, 6-4, 6-1, in the championship match of the singles draw.
Juniors Mercedes del Valle (Mexico City, Mexico) and Barbara Privrel (Zurich, Switzerland) propelled themselves to 2-1 records in the singles bracket. Two of del Valle's four victorious sets were shutouts. Privrel won 24 of her last 30 games before withdrawing from the tournament with an injury.
In doubles play, Privrel and del Valle defeated a doubles team from UPenn, before Penn State's Rebecca Ho and Martina Kopacova beat the BC duo in the second round.
The Eagles return to action on September 29 at 2 p.m. when they travel to Providence, R.I. to face Brown University.
