Women's Swimming Knocks off UMass 166-134

AHMERST, MA - The Boston College womens swimming team captured its seventh win of the season as it sneaked by the University of Massachusetts 166-134. The win improved the Eagles record to 7-2 this season.
Boston College head coach Tom Groden named senior Rachel Enos (Ispwich, MA) and freshman Lauren Schwartz (Mt. Laurel, NJ) the teams Outstanding Performers. Enos won two competitions, capturing both the 50-yard freestyle (24.85 seconds) and 100-yard freestyle (53.96). Schwartz did one better than her senior teammate, winning the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.09), the 100-yard butterfly (58.43) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:10.24).
The Eagles Shannon Lents (Boca Raton, FL) clinched the win for Boston College with her third place finish in the three-meter diving event.
Groden gave junior Kara Glynn (Branford, CT) the Outstanding Performance award for her effort in the 500-yard freestyle, in which she placed second, just two seconds away from a victory.
The Eagles go back home on Saturday, January 23, when they face the University of Rhode Island.
