Men's Swimming Wins Regular-Season Finale

CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- The Boston College mens swimming team ended its regular season on a high note by defeating Providence 173-112. The win meant the Eagles finished the regular season over .500 (7-6). The win was also Boston Colleges first win in the BIG EAST this season.
The Eagles won eight of the 16 events in the meet. Boston College head coach Tom Groden named junior Fletcher Evans (Mercer Island, WA) the teams Outstanding Performer after he finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.12). He also gave sophomore Ken Barton (Meridian, CT) the teams Outstanding Performance for his win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.77) Barton also won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.02).
Barton was one of two Eagles to capture two victories. The other was sophomore diver Mike Wilt (Columbia, CT) who captured both the one-meter diving and three-meter diving events.
Freshman Stephen Hunter (Chester, NY) clinched the win for the Eagles by finishing second in the hree-meter diving event.
Boston College will now travel to the BIG EAST Championships the weekend of Feb. 24-27.
